Chinese mainland reports 44 new confirmed COVID-19 cases

Chinese health authority has confirmed that it received reports of 44 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland on August 11, including 31 imported cases and 13 locally-transmitted ones.
“All the 13 locally-transmitted cases were reported in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region”, the National Health Commission said.
Shanghai Municipality and Fujian Province each reported one new suspected COVID-19 case, both imported from outside the mainland. No deaths related to the disease have been reported.
“A total of 52 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery on August 10”, the commission said.
By August 10, a total of 2,200 imported cases had been reported on the mainland. Of them, 2,046 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery, and 154 remained hospitalized, with one in serious condition. No deaths from the imported cases had been reported.
By August 10, the overall confirmed COVID-19 cases on the mainland had reached 84,712, including 794 patients who were still being treated, with 44 in severe conditions.
“Altogether 79,284 people had been discharged after recovery, and 4,634 had died of the disease on the mainland,” the commission said.
According to the commission, 1,729 close contacts were discharged from medical observation, and there were 23,790 close contacts still under medical observation.
Also, on August 10, 17 new asymptomatic cases, including six from outside the mainland, were reported, and two asymptomatic cases were re-categorized as confirmed ones. The commission said 285 asymptomatic cases, including 137 from outside the mainland, were still under medical observation.
