## J&K: Ganderbal district Police organizes volleyball tournament to promote sports among youth ##

In order to promote the spirit of sports among the youth of Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Ganderbal district Police, under aegis of CAP (Civic Action Programme), organized a Volleyball tournament in collaboration with Kangan Sports Association at Government Higher Secondary School in Kangan town.
The main objective of the Ganderbal Police in organizing this tournament was to build healthy police-public relations, besides taking forward youth friendly policing initiative particularly in rural areas.
In the opening ceremony, a volleyball match was played between Kangan Seniors and Kangan Juniors. The match was won by Kangan Juniors.
On the occasion, Additional SP Ganderbal Feroz Yehya-JKPS, accompanied by SDPO Kangan, SHO Police Station Kangan and other officials were present.
Besides, President of Traders Union Kangan, President Kangan Cricket Board (KCB), and sports lovers of the area witnessed the opening ceremony of the Volleyball tournament.
“These sports tournaments are organized by District Police Ganderbal under civic action programme to explore the talent of youth to prove themselves,” Yehya said while addressing the gathering.
He further said that sport is the best way to channelize the energy of youth in a positive manner.
Community members and youth of the area have appreciated the efforts of Ganderbal police and expressed hope that police will provide them similar platform in future to showcase their talents.
